The Role

We’re looking for a Financial Controller to join the Rent App accounting and reporting team during a period of rapid growth. This is an opportunity to step into a leadership position with real influence over how the organization operates.

You’ll be responsible for implementing systems, improving processes, and ensuring that every dollar moving through the business is accounted for with accuracy and integrity. This includes overseeing payment flow reconciliation across multiple rails and financial partners on a weekly basis. You’ll work closely with leadership, operations, and product teams to build a scalable, compliant, and transparent financial operation.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all day-to-day accounting activities, including the monthly close process, account reconciliations, and payroll.

Manage weekly reconciliation of payment flows across payment rails, banking partners, and third-party processors.

Maintain and improve internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and reliability of financial data.

Design and implement scalable systems that support high transaction volumes and automated reporting.

Develop a deep understanding of payment rails (ACH, card networks, and digital wallets) and how money moves through the Rent App ecosystem.

Manage cash flow tracking, vendor payments, and revenue recognition.

Oversee external relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and financial partners.

Prepare financial statements and internal reports for leadership and the board.

Establish policies and procedures that support growth while meeting regulatory and audit standards.

What We’re Looking For

Background in accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.

Experience reconciling complex transaction flows across multiple payment partners or financial institutions.

Familiarity with payment processing, settlement timelines, and exception handling.

Hands-on experience implementing or optimizing modern accounting systems (e.g. NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Ramp, or Airbase).

Experience working in or alongside regulated industries where compliance and transparency are essential.

Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and a proactive approach to improving processes.
