Rent App is a consumer fintech platform that makes paying rent simple and secure. Renters can pay landlords directly, split payments into installments, and build credit for free. Landlords receive fast, reliable payouts. Our platform includes advanced compliance and fraud detection systems, as well as internal tools to support customer operations, risk management, and financial reporting.

The Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in building and scaling our web platform, mobile apps, and internal systems. You will work across the stack, from backend services and APIs to frontend interfaces, helping deliver secure, reliable, and user-friendly experiences for renters, landlords, and internal teams. This is a hands-on role with significant impact on product architecture, reliability, and future growth.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain features for backend services and APIs that power our user facing features as well as internal tools for support and fraud operations
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, designers, and QA to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions
• Ensure reliability and performance of systems handling sensitive financial data
• Contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, and best practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with a focus on stability and resilience
• Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence
• Integration with third party APIs and solutions

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering
• Strong experience with modern web frameworks (Django, FastAPI, or similar)
• Solid understanding of APIs, relational databases, and data modeling
• Experience building and maintaining production systems with meaningful traffic
• Comfort working in CI/CD environments and containerized deployments
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Strong problem-solving ability and sense of ownership

• Experience in fintech, payments, or other regulated industries
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform)
• Experience working with monitoring and alerting systems (Datadog, PagerDuty, etc.)
• Exposure to fraud prevention, identity verification, or credit reporting systems
• Previous experience in a high-growth startup environment
